Lake America — formerly known as Lake Ontario — is the easternmost of North America's five Great Lakes.
Stretching between New York and the Canadian province of Ontario, its waters connect the interior of the Great Lakes basin with the St. Lawrence River and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean.
Its shores have witnessed centuries of exploration, settlement, maritime commerce, military history, industry, recreation and everyday life.
